YOUR RESULT IS

COUNSELLOR

INFLUENCE (I) & Steadiness (S)

Counsellors, or people who are strong in, first, Influence (I) and, second, Steadiness (S), represent accepting, collaborative, team-spirited, warm, patient, and cheerful people.

These individuals are inclined toward people-related matters. They are warm, friendly, and empathetic. So, they are always willing to listen to people’s needs and concerns.

In social settings, their influential and steady behavior styles enable them to adapt quickly to various situations. For instance, they can be outgoing and persuasive. At the same time, they can quickly take on a more receptive role whenever necessary.

During conflicts, they tend to seek emotional support and mull over broken relationships. Because of their people-oriented nature, sometimes they go to unusual lengths to please others.

An IS-type can increase effectiveness by confronting their problems head-on. Also, they can work on acknowledging other people’s flaws. They always look at people through an optimistic lens.

This trait can delude their reality, causing them to feel exploited, eventually.

How they relate to others

Of all DISC profiles, Counsellors are probably the most effective at relating to other people, in an all round sense. They are able to socialise easily and their gregarious natures allow them to feel at ease with people they do not know. They are often persuasive and charming, but the Steadiness in this profile means that they are also able to adopt a more open, relaxed approach when a situation demands, becoming less directly active and more passively receptive to the ideas and feelings of other people.

What they are good at

The strengths of Counsellors relate to their abilities in the areas of communication and understanding. In this case, the high Influence is shared with Steadiness, allowing them to fulfil supportive roles well, being understanding and sympathetic, but their more outgoing side means that they are also able to operate effectively in a social or persuasive sense. It should be noted, however, that people of this kind place less emphasis on matters of practicality than a purely S-type, as this element is balanced by the less methodical Influence factor.

What motivates them

Antagonism, rejection and confrontation are all situations that this type of person will try to avoid. To use their considerable communicative powers, they will need to feel that they are operating in a favourable environment, and that those around them are sympathetic and approving. To feel completely motivated, individuals with a Counsellor profile need to feel that they are appreciated, respected and liked by the people around them, and will sometimes go to unusual lengths to attract positive attention of this kind.
